Based in Germany, Complement Therapeutics is a cell & gene therapy company focused on addressing unmet needs in complement (important part of the immune system) mediated diseases. The lead asset is an AAV-2 gene therapy focused on blocking the lesions in dry age-related macular degeneration (dAMD). These lesions are a major cause of vision loss in patients. The company is also exploring some earlier-stage programs.

Deciphex is an Irish digital pathology company. It has developed AI / deep learning platforms focused on applications for clinical and veterinary pathology that improve productivity and help pathologists focus on the critical content.

Sibylla Biotech is based in Milan, Italy and develops a computational modelling platform to discover new protein degraders.Through their protein folding simulation technology platform, Sibylla identifies relevant and previously inexplorable folding intermediates for protein targets that are currently considered undruggable in their native state. The company is developing a proprietary pipeline of small molecule folding interfering degraders (FIDs) that can address a range of therapeutic areas.

Perfuze is based in Galway, Ireland. It develops innovative catheter technology to treat acute ischemic stroke, providing superior clinical outcomes in shorter procedural times. Perfuze has developed super-bore diameter aspiration technology that has the capability to navigate the complex neurovascular anatomy. Perfuze’ pipeline of products are designed to facilitate fast, complete clot removal during acute ischemic stroke.

Coave Therapeutics is a French based clinical-stage biotech company focused on developing life-changing gene therapies in rare ocular and CNS (Central Nervous System) diseases.Coave’s next-generation AAV-Ligand Conjugate (‘ALIGATER’) platform enables targeted delivery and enhanced gene transduction to improve the effectiveness of advanced gene therapies for rare diseases. 

Shorla Oncology is an Irish speciality pharma company developing new oncology therapeutic products. Shorla develops and commercializes innovative oncology drugs for cancer with a particular focus on women’s, pediatric and rare cancers.

Storm Therapeutics is a UK-based drug discovery company tackling oncology and other diseases through modulating RNA modifying enzymes. The company is developing a unique platform to address these enzyme classes, including RNA methyltransferases.

Palliare is an Irish company which develops and manufactures an insufflation device for laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery with in-built smoke evacuation technology.

Atlantic Therapeutics is a spin-out from BMR (Galway). It developed a non-invasive neuromuscular electrical stimulation device to treat various forms of incontinence (stress-urinary, faecal, and mixed-urinary). Caldera Medical acquired the company’s assets in September 2023.

Prexton is a biotech focused on developing novel treatments for the debilitating symptoms of late-stage Parkinson’s disease. The company was acquired by Lundbeck in March 2018.

Fusion Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage company focused on developing next-generation radiopharmaceuticals as precision medicines to treat cancer. The company is headquartered in Toronto with a base in Boston. Fusion listed on NASDAQ on June 2020 and now trades as FUSN. 

Endotronix, with a subsidiary in Ireland and headquartered in Illinois, USA, is developing a novel implantable pulmonary artery pressure monitor and integrated patient management platform to provide comprehensive management tools for heart failure patients.

Apica Cardiovascular was a developer of a platform access and closure device for the delivery of therapeutic medical devices through the apex of the heart. Apica was acquired by Thoratec in July 2014.

PQ Bypass is a medical device company working to transform the treatment of long-segment femoropopliteal disease with minimally-invasive endovascular solutions. The company was sold to Endologix in April 2021.

Quanta, both UK and US based, is developing advanced haemodialysis systems for dialysis patients which can be used in the home and in the clinic. Quanta technologies are simple and easy to use, accessible and empowering, liberating dialysis patients to live their lives.

Medlumics, based in Spain, is developing new medical devices for the treatment of Cardiac Rhythm Disturbances. It designs and manufactures catheter-based systems for the treatment of supra-ventricular tachycardias.

Veryan developed innovative stent solutions to treat peripheral vascular disease. Veryan’s BioMimics 3D Vascular Stent System has a unique 3D helical geometry to improve treatment outcomes in peripheral vascular disease. The Product is FDA approved and marketed in the US.The company was acquired by Otsuka Medical in December 2018.

Novate developed a novel inferior vena cava filter that converts from a filter to a stent, providing protection to patients at risk of pulmonary embolism.The company was sold to BTG in September 2018.

Precision Biotics (previously Alimentary Health) developed microbiome-based healthcare and nutritional products for inflammatory and other conditions.The company was acquired by Novozymes in June 2020.

Xention is a cardiovascular biotech company, specialised in the discovery and development of ion channel-modulating drugs. Its assets have now been partnered with or acquired by pharmaceutical partners.

Covagen was a biotech company that developed a novel platform technology for the discovery and development of bispecific antibodies. The company was acquired by Janssen in 2014.

Agi Therapeutics was a specialty pharmaceutical company that was focused on the development and commercialisation of specialty drug products.
The company completed an IPO in 2006 and was subsequently acquired by Vidara Therapeutics.

Labcyte develops acoustic liquid handling products for applications in research and drug development.
Labcyte was acquired by Beckman Coulter in 2019.

Vico Therapeutics B.V. is a clinical-stage genetic medicines company developing antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) RNA modulating therapies for patients with severe neurological diseases. Vico’s research platform designs fit-for-purpose ASOs by applying precision chemistry with mechanisms of action ideally suited to target devastating neurodegenerative diseases such as Huntington’s disease for which there are currently no disease-modifying treatments available.
